This project was for one of my portfolio classes; I wanted to create an imposing castle set in the medieval era. I was inspired by the castle designs of Dracula and the lord of the Rings. The focus of this project was to create an environment that would be used as a set for virtual productions. This project took around a month to model and texture. Most models were made by me inside of Maya, except a few rocks and trees that were taken from Quixel Bridge. I also used a tree asset from another modeler called rezashams313. The textures for the models were also sourced from Quixel. Everything was brought into Unreal Engine 5, this is where I created my materials using mostly tiling textures. When assembling the level I went through a few redesigns but I ultimately liked how the end product turned out. The lighting and effects were all done in the Unreal engine as well, taking advantage of the lumen system. Overall this was a great learning experience and was a very fun project to work on!
